Calling all "alternative" couples. If you have something that is unique about you, style or culture, background, sexuality , physical ability anything that makes you who you are, there is nothing more fulfilling to creatives than using their artistic platform to portray your individuality.
Photography in particular is an exceptional way to express a unique style. I have had an amazing opportunity to let my creative colours fly with engaged couple Ashleigh and Will. Ashleigh, an old friend from high-school still sports her amazing flair for fashion channeling witchy vibes and enchanting long black hair. This is an absolute culture for her and the both of them are so sweet. On top of killer boots and a bright red dress the chosen pine forrest location leans easily to a gothic theme.
Most clients want light natural photos, and I can do that, I really do enjoy it. But there is something about being able to edit dramatically that is so fun.
A style that I myself identify with, it seemed so easy to create a magical tone and stylise the images. Using the deep red of Ashleigh's dress and her long, long black hair to draw interest to the couple as the centre of focus. I could add colour to the background, de-saturate the foreground and add so many artistic choices to the frame without taking away from the central focus, William and Ashleigh.
They are going to be married on the 10th anniversary of their relationship in December this year. I absolutely can not wait to make more artistic photos for them to honour their passion for each other.
Ashleigh and I have a shared Pinterest board which is so fun to collect ideas for posing, location, style light and editing styles. I am going to suggest it for every couple from now on.
I love this type of photography, it is so richly beautiful and artistic.
